Carrier Oils

Also known as base oils, carrier oils are used as a base for adding fragrances. They help stabilize and preserve your blend and feed the skin. You can use them in small quantities in a perfume vial or in larger quantities if you are creating a massage oil. If making a massage oil, I recommend adding 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil and 1/2 teaspoon wheat germ oil. For perfume oils in dram vials, just add a few drops of each. And fill the dram vial at least one quarter way with the basic oil. An example is Grapeseed oil. It is widely used on commercial products because it is probably the least expensive oil, stays fresh for a long time, and easily obtainable. Grapeseed on its own is a cleanser and toner for oily skin. More carrier oils in my future posts!
