Scent of Murder Is Not A Stand-Alone

Although I’ve received many positive reviews for the first book in the Issy Castillo series, some have complained that Issy seems somewhat shallow. I’m very happy for these reviewers because it means they “came out of the cake pan fully formed” as we sometimes say in Portuguese. That is, they arrived at adulthood and maturity completely on Day 1. However, most of us, including Issy, haven’t been as lucky. Most of us have developed over time as we learn more life lessons. So, Issy learns some life lessons in Book 1. And she will continue to learn more and more as the 4-book series progresses. So, if you are reading, or intend to read Book 1, I ask you to bear in mind that my main character, though intelligent and spunky from the start, is meant to mature over time. Just like most of us!
