Welcome

We authors are generally shy folks, more comfortable alone in our offices banging on keyboards than tooting our horns in public.  However, we understand that to connect better with our readers we need to communicate some information about ourselves. So here’s the lowdown on me.

My roots are in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, Cleveland, Ohio, and Rio de Janeiro, but I now call Boulder, Colorado home. I’m a Latin Americanist with a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in Luso-Brazilian Studies. I’ve also lived and worked in Brazil (as a Fulbright fellow), Mexico, Portugal, Spain, and the UK. So I guess you could say that I’ve been around the block a few times!

I’ve been a professor at Brown and Pittsburgh universities, as well as a master intercultural trainer and assessor delivering training programs to business people and their families relocating around the world. These days, I keep busy writing.

From the picture on this page with its mountain backdrop, you can probably deduce that I live steps away from the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies. Like my sleuth Issy Castillo, I like to walk in the Foothills. I also enjoy creating herbal remedies and remodeling my new home.

And if truth be told, I’m also the guardian of three very spoiled cats and a menagerie of squirrels, and other birds, with crows being my favorites. Rabbits, foxes, deer, raccoons, bobcats, mountain lions, coyotes, and an occasional skunk also manage to roam around this semi-rural property. Once I even found a 400-pound bear lounging on the hood of my car!

I’ve written several nonfiction books, edited one, and translated another. Three have won national awards (Colorado Authors League, Book Expo America, and International New Age Trade Show). People often ask me, “Why so many pseudonyms?” It’s because I write in so many different areas. Morwyn writes on the esoteric subjects and sometimes on Brazilian folk religions. Carolina Dow writes Hispanic crime fiction. And Caroline—well, Caroline simply writes about what interests her.

Right now I’m excited about my Issy Castillo contemporary Latina crime fiction series, for which I have a 3-book contract with Level Best Books. Scent of Murder, Book 1, launches in June, 2024. Besides the mystery, it includes a whole lot of fun information about aromatherapy and botanicals.
